Comfortable
Beds were super comfy. We were beside the terrace which was beautiful and bathrooms were well equipped! Staff very friendly and helpful.
No breakfast included, but breakfast available over at easy tiger.

I moved here from another hostel that was also very nice but...
I moved here from another hostel that was also very nice but the air on wasn’t working. At shambalaa the air on works great and the bed are comfortable.

Modern, clean, overall fantastic place to stay
So much great stuff to say about this place. All of the basics are in great shape: cleanliness, facilities, and staff helpfulness. The architecture and interior design are great, too, and they’ve got nice (if small) communal spaces on the roof and in the entrance. They also offer unlimited access to free drinking water (filtered, of course) and hot coffee. It’s worth noting that the social and food aspects of their experience relies on their sister location, Easy Tiger, which is just a 200m or so walk over and across the street. Guests at Shambalaa get free access to the Easy Tiger pool, which—trust me—comes in super flippin’ handy in Phong Nha’s midday heat. Also, my mattress was either latex or memory foam, which was definitely the finest one of any hostel I’d stayed in during the three months I’ve been traveling SE Asia.
The only thing that was a bummer for me involved a matter that only affects a few of their rooms. Some of the rooms in this hostel (such as the Harmony room on the 3rd floor) are constructed as two chambers, separated by a wall with a centered open doorway… and the trouble is that only one of these chambers has an air conditioning unit. Now, I was the poor soul who wound up in a situation where I was of course in the chamber without the unit, and in which the one with the unit was inhabited by at least one person who found that they needed to keep the unit on a low setting… in the end, I wound up laying on the bare floor, shirtless (to “soak up” the coolness from the tiles), my head and neck in the doorway and my towel folded up as a cushion for my head, simply to manage a bit of rest. I have asked they consider adding AC units to both chambers, but that may wind up being quite cost-prohibitive to pull off. That said, I discussed it with the staff the following morning, and they relocated me to a to a single-chambered room (Energy) that didn’t suffer from this implementation flaw

I loved everything about this place.
I loved everything about this place. The vibe is so great. Best place I stayed in Vietnam and also the cheapest. Staff were so friendly, beds were sooooo comfy and smelt so amazing I didn't want to leave. I could have stayed forever. Nothing but positives for this place.
